A lightening bolt crashed outside the window and the lights began to flicker. Angelica pulled her gray and black striped cotton sweater tightly against her shoulders. Edgar, her feisty black cat, jumped from her lap onto the old wooden floor. “Lord, let me get through this night” she said to Edgar. “I must … I must find …” She quickly turned her head to the window as another clap of lightening struck outside. Slowly, she turned back to the flickering computer screen and began her search. Edgar nervously paced beside her chair. “Tonight” she whispered to Edgar “Nothing will stop me …”
If you’re on a search for a perfectly frightful Halloween inspired wedding invitations, we hope you enjoy these thirteen (what other number would work?) devilishly delightful finds. Angelica chose #9.
First on our list Til Death do Us Part by Art and Design of Julie Avarez. This one has a bit of all things gothic. With the “Til Death Do Us Part” in an ominous black font front and center, your guests will immediately know what’s coming. The delicate black scrolls surround the design with hints of blood spatter in the background and a bleeding heart at the top. What’s not to love with these Halloween wedding invitations?
Next up from the same designer is a wonderful gothic design with black roses, cobwebs and a lacy design surrounding the rustic cream and brown invitation. While this invitation has an old fashioned creepy feeling to it, we know your guests will love it. Flying bats add a bit of scare to the top to these Halloween wedding invitations.
I love this one with the moody background, the tree silhouette and lonely bats in the night. The font color pairs nicely with the mood of the sky. Excellent Halloween choice from Holiday Hearts Halloween.
These not too scary skeletons have just the right amount of gothic flair for Halloween wedding invitations. I love the intricate details … the silk top hat worn by the groom and the wild smoky blonde hair for the bride. The silky wedding dress with a cobweb pattern looks lovely on the bride to be. Another original from the Art and Design of Julie Alvarez.
Here’s my take on the gothic theme … with a dramatic bone-white scrollwork frame complete with cobwebs and a textured background. Yeah, I surprised myself with my own darkness.
Edgar Allen Poe approved, raven inspired “evermore” invitations. The background colors of charcoal gray and soft orange compliment the gothic fonts. With menacing black ravens circling in front of a rising full moon and wonderful spiky scroll work all around, this poetic invitation is perfect for your offbeat or Halloween wedding. Julie nailed this one perfectly.
If this doesn’t say “Halloween Wedding”, I don’t know what does. Perfectly matched pumpkin orange and inky black with medieval gothic style scroll work decorating the top and scalloped edges. Another Halloween classic from Julie Alvarez.
When you just want simple blood spatter, a bloody handprint and a wrinkled notepaper, look no further. This design by Printable Digi Designs, which somewhat resembles a ransom note, has just the facts – no frills for a perfectly gory Halloween Wedding Invitation.
#9 is our Angelica and Hayden inspired gothic dark rose theme wedding invitation. Another design of mine – a part of my dark red roses wedding suite. I chose simple modern text in white over a vintage, dark black and red garden roses background.
Number 10 features a Zombie Brains Wedding Invitation. Designed by You’re Invited, it’s perfect for your offbeat wedding! In fact, the designer describes it perfectly: “This invitation features two brains that are in the shape of a heart and are threaded together. The heart is gory and bloody, so not for the squeamish, but strangely elegant enough to not scare your guests away.”
Next are these Sally and Jack inspired Halloween wedding invitations that have lovely soft charcoal skeleton characters with simple scroll work around the edges. The details on these creepy characters are fantastic … I love her intricate flowered headpiece, her simple pearl necklace and swirly floral belt. His top hat, bow tie and pocket flower give him a handsome (if skeletons can be called handsome) and dapper appeal. You can just feel the skeletal love on this one – available from SaphiredDigitalWorks on etsy.
This one just screams Halloween Wedding or “HALLOWEDDING”. With the skeleton clearly in anguish, the neglected cemetery, gothic embellishments and blood orange background, your guests will know immediately what they are in for. “Eat, drink and be Scary” … the details encourage costumes and creativity. You can get this – and other nightmare pieces – from OddLotPaperie on etsy.
Nightmare Before Christmas
Our #13 invitation is none other than the Nightmare Before Christmas by Tim Burton. This Disney licensed invitation is available on the Zazzle store from Disney. The real Jack and Sally are in the corner with a simple gray heart professing their love. Above “Simply meant to be” is centered in an intricate white scroll with gothic flowers on either side. I did some research on Jack and Sally’s actual wedding for a previous post … you might be surprised to learn Jack and Sally never got married in the movie! But you can find their quote from their song and gothic vows from a corpse bride at the bottom of the earlier post. (Evidently, the invitation I had linked to in my previous post was not a Disney licensed image and has since been removed.)
You can also get more Nightmare Before Christmas stationery and gifts. Here’s a canvas poster you can give to the bride and groom complete with their names and wedding date.

So that’s our thirteen – but wait – there’s one more! I just had to include this original Zombie inspired wedding from Ellen Fornay at ellenfornay.com. I loved the original wording she came up with: Earthquake? Hangover? Zombie Attack” Nothing will stop THE WEDDING! I don’t know if she is still taking commissioned artwork but if you love this as much as I do it’s worth a trip over to her site.
